My Ideal Job

I think my ideal job would be working as psychologist or working as a musician, I think it would be great working with people and not neccesarily working with papers or statistics, I love research, but what I really love is the human contact. Also, I really love music, I'd be so happy playing with my band in different places and feeling the people's warmth. Charisma, empathy are so important to do these jobs, without them you can't conect with people, I think those qualities are important to psychologists and also for musicians, when you know how the people feel and how you can help them, or how you can make them feel great is easier doing a good job. I think I'd be good at these jobs because I really love Psychology and Music, and I'm always tryin' to improve the qualities and skills needed for them.
I don't really know how I would find a job, Now, I just want to think about passing this semester and how I'm gonna spend my time on winter's holydays.

My favourite subject

Hi again, now I'm gonna talk about my favourite subject. My favourite subject is Social Psychology. This subjets is taught by Pablo Valdivieso. I like it because it's a subject where I can develop my abilities, especially what are related to analysis. Also, we dedicate much time to discuss about what we're studying. I think Social Psychology is essential to understand Psychology, it provide a specific perspective related to social interactions. I have learnt about group's psychology, bullying, violence psychology and leadership.
I have read authors like Martin-Baró, Moscovici, and Morales. Other reason for what I like Social Psychology is because it's very easy to understand and apply in your own life, especially if you're leading social projects.

Talk Review

Hi everybody!, this time I'm gonna talk about Ken Robinson's talk "Do Schools Kill Creativity". I think it's very interesting how he present education's problem refering the way how the school looks down on arts, music, or any dif ferent talent than maths, history, etc.He talked about the importance of improving different abilities and talents rather than usual. Other topic he's spoke, was the importance of don't being afraid of making mistakes in the school environment. Ken Robinson considers that mistakes is fundamental on being original.

Also, he talks about how a new vision, or concept about education would be useful in creation of new and different answers to the world's conflicts.

Finally, it's aproppiate to talk about how Ken Robinson knows about education, and how he was clear about what was he talking, he gave good examples, and also, was funny too, what helped him to keep public's attention.

My Future

Hi everybody, now it's time to talk about my future. As I finish my career, I'll take a post-grade in Organizational Psychology. I want to work as a Organizational Psychologist because I want to improve the quality of worklife. I'm very interested in working as Organizational Psychologist in Schools. I think it's very important care about students as School Psychologists do, but I think it's very important care about teachers too. In five years I hope to get a work to start saving money for my own house. Personally I'd like to be with my actual girlfriend and playing in big places with my band. I hope to have my parents alive and see them healthy.
Of course I want to be healthy in 5 years, what I really want in 5 years is to be with my friends and family.

The best in my area

Hi, now I'm gonna talk about the best in psychology. He's Ignacio Martin-Baró. He was born in Valladolid, Spain in 1942 and died in El Salvador in 1989. He was a social psychologist, and was also a priest. He had an important role in El Salvador during 70's. He taught psychology in many universities and wrote 11 books and many scientific and cultural articles.
I think he's important to psychology because he tried very hard learning about the real problems of the people. He always stressed the importance of studying psychology in a different way, taking distance from the american perspective. I think he's the best because he wasn't just a psychology, he always cared about people and try to understand them from their life and their problems and not from a theory, he always tried to use psychology to free people from their chains.

My Career

Hi, now it's time to talk about my career. I'm studying psychology at Universidad de Chile, I'm there since 2008. I always wanted to be a psychologist, I decided to study psychology when I was in the first grade of secundary. I chose it because I wanted to work with Down's syndrome people. That decision was motivated by my brother who has Down's syndrome, and because I have seen how the people who work with them don't know how to improve their abilities.
The best thing about psychology is to have the chance of understand people's problems and have the knowledge to help them. The worst thing about my career is reading so much and sometimes reading really complicated things.
I don't have much expectations now, I want to make progress step by step. There are so many things to do with psychology, but at the moment, I don't know what I'm going to do after ending my career. There is so much time to think about it, now I just want to enjoy the present.

A photograph I like...

This is my favourite photo, is the cover of Blind Melon's album "Nico" from 1996. I don't know who took this photograph and I don't even know when and where it was taken, but I know who's the guy in the picture. He's Shannon Hoon, who was the vocalist of the band. If you look his left arm you will see a tattoo. That tattoo is a poem written by one of his ancestors in the 19th century and is part of one of their songs.

I think the photo represents calm and escape. Being more especific, it represents life's simplicity. Shannon is showing him how he really is behind the "rock n' roll mask". He's not wearing outlandish clothes, he's just wearing his ripped pants and is showing everything but his face. I think he was trying to highlight the poem, It's difficult to read it, but maybe the concept of the photo reflects better the poem or the meaning he was trying to give it.

My last summer

Hi everybody!, now it's time to talk about my last summer. Last summer I went to Algarrobo the first weeks of february. I went with my whole family (parents and two brothers), aunts, and my girlfriend Constanza.

These vacations were full of funny situations but also were moments for relaxing. Everyday we went to the city center to eat fries and chinese food. Sometimes we came down to beach with some friends that we met the last year. In one of these sunny afternoons we met a group of guys who were leasing a house nearly there, they invited us to have a party that night. Obviously, we went there that night and had a really good time with all of them, we were playing the guitar and curiosly we liked the same music. The next days were so similar, beach in the afternoon, guitar and rum in the night.

The second week started so bad, we suffered a robbery, they stole my PlayStation 2, a radio, and a pocket full of dvd's. That was the sad moment of the summer but after that we were still hanging out, every night was such a picture, with the moon reflected over the sea and my girlfriend and me (and my brother, her best friend) having and ice cream or just a cup of coffee.

My best friend.

Hi everybody, now it's time to talk about my best friend. His name is Marcelo and I met him when I was 12. That was in 2001 when we were classmates in the school. At first time we weren't so close but later that year we became very best friends and we shared many activities like playing the guitar. Time went by and we were growing and sharing many situations that were changing our lives: the first relationship, drunk nights, the born of his brother Benjamin, and things like that.

In the last years we began to take differents roads, he's started practicing basketball and trial bike, and I took guitar lessons and began a relationship with my girlfriend. Anyway, this doesn't mean that we're not friends anymore, actually, I can say that the different interests and hobbies gave us the chance to talk about more things than we could talk in the past.

He's now studying agronomy in the Universidad Católica but we still remain as friends. It's funny to see how he grows becoming a man. I met him when he was a little fat boy, and he was crying all the time because of the annoying people, with his short black hair and that funny smile from ear to ear. Now he's taller than these days, he's not a fat boy anymore, and that short hair is now long like a pony tail. But there's something that no feels how the time goes by, and that things is our friendship. I'm sure we'll be friends for a long long time.
